What does Neya do?

Neya helps you do more with the people who live near you. Tell Neya what you'd be up for — padel, pram walks, the pub, a proper hike — and she puts you with a few people nearby who want the same. When somebody suggests a plan, Neya helps it actually happen: the day, the place, who's coming, the reminder the night before. The less glamorous half of meeting up is the organising. That's the half Neya does.

Do I have to organise things?

No. Most people never start a plan — they just say yes to one. And if you do suggest something, you're not signing up to run it. Neya asks everyone which day works, settles where, chases the people who haven't answered, and reminds everyone on the day.

What does Neya actually do once you're in?

She notices when a chat is turning into a plan, and turns it into one. Then she asks everyone to settle a day and a place, checks who's coming, reminds everyone the day before, and afterwards asks how it went. She never decides anything for you. People answer, and the plan moves. And when a neighbour has already spoken up, Neya stays quiet — a real person doing the organising always beats a nudge.

Is this for making friends, or for doing things?

Both, in the order that actually works. Turning up to the same five-a-side, book club or Sunday walk a few times is how people become friends. Neya starts with something you'd enjoy doing and lets the rest follow, rather than asking you to go and make friends from a standing start.

Neya is all about connection. Sometimes the most valuable connections are to local businesses rather than people or community groups. Whenever a business pays to be suggested for one of your requests, Neya makes this very clear to you. We get paid when you choose to talk to them, so we're incentivised only to suggest businesses which are actively helpful to you. We never sell your data, and we never share it with anyone without your clear consent.

Those are places to post. Neya is a way to get something in the diary. There's no noisy newsfeed and no giant 'communities' — just a few people nearby who want to do the same thing as you, and an assistant whose whole job is turning "we should do something" into a date, a place and a plan. Hosted by Neya to keep everyone safe.

Is connecting on Neya safe?

Neya is building a community of real people who want to help others living close to them. You'll always know who you're talking to, and we'll never share your information without permission. We ask people for their names and location to join the community and do not allow anonymous users. When you make a connection, Neya hosts the conversation and ensures it stays safe and relevant to the reason you connected. We use a mix of AI moderation and human oversight to make sure conversations stay civil and share the spirit of Neya. You should always keep safe online by only sharing information that you're happy being public, stopping conversations if you're uncomfortable, and meeting in safe locations if you choose to meet in real life.
